Location: TBD
Where to find these books: Seattle Public Libraries, King County Library Systems, and Sno-Isle Libraries all have physical, audio, and digital formats of these books available for free! If you're considering buying these titles, I'd suggest supporting a small business - Book Larder and Elliot Bay Book Company are wonderful local options, and Now Serving LA and Kitchen Arts & Letters are my favorite food-writing specific bookstores around the country.
Who is welcome: If you identify as non-white or BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) and are curious about the intricacies of our relationship to what we eat, this book club is for you! We will be reading titles exclusively written by BIPOC authors! Although I expect we'll have a handful of food industry folks, you do not need to be working with food in a professional capacity to join.
White allies, thank you for your support. I am cultivating a space specific to the needs and desires of BIPOC communities. Please feel welcome to read book club titles on your own time -- respectfully, I ask that you abstain from joining us for group discussion.
